Objective

  • Support the efficient sharing and re-use of available FOT datasets

  • Develop and promote a framework for data sharing and guidelines

  • Organise FOT workshops for awareness amongst EU ITS members

Description

This project deals with extensive collection and management of FOT data. The project includes information about the test of various transport based applied technologies. It deals with organising FOT data from across Europe and the American sub-continent. The FOT community has access to the data and has the permissions to update the FOT database. The database will be targeted towards obtaining research results.

Inputs

1. FOT data from members -  The agreed and licensed sharing of FOT Data across international boundaries

2. Collaboration of the FOT community -  Awareness amongst various international ITS members regarding the existence of the FOT community

Outputs

Main OUTPUTS of this project are:

  1. Licensed database access to FOT members - EU, Japan and US

  2. Data Exchange network between the three major Continents

  3. Safe Data Exchange protocols in case of exchange

Project Assets

  • Centralised FOT Database from all members

  • Data sharing Framework

Project Struggles

  • Inclusion of limited FOT participants

  • Lack of awareness amongst technology efficient states

Project Processes

FOT Net Data aims to collect data from all major ITS participants. The major tool by which they process it is by conducting educational/awareness seminars amongst potential members. FOT awareness workshops in new geographies where new traffic trends can be recorded.

Currently, Europe, USA and Australia are targeted for initial development of the FOT database.

Project Status

The project is completed and operational from 1999. It is undergoing expansion for new routes in the city of Capelle aan den Ijssel.
