Project Description
Smart Traffic makes use of easy-to-obtain data from existing sensors in the way. By using clever techniques, detailed information can be derived about the current traffic situation. With this information, traffic lights are controlled. Grontmij developed Smart Traffic so that road managers can optimize traffic flows. For the road user, this means less waiting at traffic lights and a shorter travel time. Grontmij uses a new traffic model that has been developed together with TU Delft.

The objective is to use predictive real-time micro simulation, based on which proactive traffic management is done.
